hope permissions; cape & cowl
in the City, Eridan's been granted the power to recognize the hopes of others. this could be anything from someone hoping they get a letter in the mail to wanting their neighbor's wife to be away that evening so they can beat in her husband's skull with a crowbar. it could also extend to dreams, but only ones the individual considers having a good chance of happening - basically, if they can hope their dream comes true someday, then Eridan can see it. (it also requires he hear the voice or see the face of the target to work.)
as a foreword, Eridan rarely exercises this power at current - and even when he does, he usually isn't inclined to share the results for kicks. in fact, you could consider it more of a possible avenue to add something extra to a thread, or a plot point if you want something they're hiding to reach someone they may not necessarily want it to!
this power is opt-in; even if you give me the go-ahead here, I'll always ask before he uses it on your character, and always ask before he shares the results with anyone else.

can Eridan see this character's hopes or dreams? Yes! (there's some canon precedent for psychics and the like being unable to read him while he's intangible but that's like 10% of the time so)
if so, what would he see? A hope for a utopian world free of the tyranny of corporate evils. A hope for a cessation of personal pain and fear, and the cessation of the pains and fears of others (with the exception being corporatists).

if so, what would he see? He hopes for a bat shaped shadow falling across him suddenly, for a flush renewal of that glorious feeling of terror, for new books and new experiments and new subjects and new vistas of biological exploration.

if so, what would he see? A serious hope to stay reformed, a hope that evil isn't genetic, a hope that Wally will show up in the City.
